Description

Mutter Paneer combines soft paneer cubes and tender green peas simmered in a rich, spiced tomato-onion gravy. This restaurant-style dish is a staple in North Indian cuisine, easy enough for weeknights yet special enough for celebrations.

Ingredients

Instructions

Boil the peas:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the green peas and cook for 3–4 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.

Sauté the onions:

  1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until they turn soft and golden brown.

Cook the spices and tomatoes:

  1. Add the minced ginger and garlic. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add Kitchen King masala, turmeric, red chili powder, and dhana jeeru. Mix well and cook for a few seconds to release the flavors.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they turn soft and pulpy. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Make the gravy paste:

  1. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender or use an immersion blender.
  2. Grind into a smooth paste.

Cook the gravy:

  1. In the same pan, heat the remaining 2 tbsp oil over medium heat.
  2. Pour in the ground gravy paste. Add salt and stir well.
  3. Cook the gravy for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine with peas and paneer:

  1. Add the boiled green peas and paneer cubes to the gravy. Stir gently to coat them in the masala.

Add water:

  1. Pour in 1 cup of water and mix well.
  2. Cover and cook for another 5–8 minutes on low-medium heat to allow the flavors to blend.

Finish with cream:

  1. Add a splash of whipping cream and stir gently.
  2. Let it simmer for an additional 2 minutes.

Serve:

  1. Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.
